Remedial education

The lecture contents learned at the Faculty of Science are further developed based on science and mathematics learned up to high school. For that reason, there are many people worried about studying at university, such as “I was good at physics but I am not good at chemistry” or “I am not confident about this unit”.
The Faculty of Science incorporates “remedial education” in the first year. Remedial means "to align learning with supplementary lectures". Since many staff members explain your weakness carefully until you are satisfied, it will lead to a smooth understanding of the contents of the university lectures.

Practical education with a small group

The Faculty of Science at Fukuoka University has introduced a “tutorial system” in which teachers called as “tutors” can personally offer advice for first-year students. In addition to questions about specialized content that you will learn for the first time at a university, we will also be able to answer questions about campus life.
On the other hand, in experimental subjects and practicum, teachers are assigned to small groups to give detailed guidance on practical content and improve knowledge and skills. In addition, “Graduation Research”, which is the culmination of university life, is also a training for independent researchers. Here again, faculty members provide one-on-one guidance to support advanced research conducted by students themselves. Numerous relationships with teachers, seniors and juniors throughout the college days will greatly boost your personal growth.

Graduation research & Graduation thesis

Your final summary of various specialized knowledge in the undergraduate lectures is “Graduation Research” and “Graduation Thesis”. Each student will be responsible for your research theme unique in the world, and will take about 1 year to work on its elucidation. Since no one has ever challenged the research theme, you may be confused by many unknown things such as “what kind of method is good” and “what kind of interesting result can be obtained”.
The best part of science is to solve the mysteries one by one as if building a difficult puzzle. As a scientist, you can also enjoy the joy of elucidating. Furthermore, the obtained results will be presented as a presentation in front of a large audience or as a research article left to posterity.

University admission is not a goal. Four years later, the start of the next big life will be approaching. The Faculty of Science holds events such as “Job Hunting Meetings” to help students choose their own career paths and facilitate smooth job hunting. At these events, we invite OBs who have graduated from the Faculty of Science at Fukuoka University and personnel managers of companies in various industries to learn about social trends and mental attitude as a member of society. Furthermore, in order to face job hunting with confidence, we also provide opportunities for students to listen to experiences from OBs and to do practical training.
On the other hand, you can freely use an abundance of recruitment materials and seminars provided by the Center for Career Support, and the public servant courses and teacher courses provided by the Extension Center at Fukuoka University. You can lead a fulfilling student life towards your goals.
